Dr. Vivek Vij is a globally recognized Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary (HPB) Surgeon with over 25 years of extensive surgical experience. He currently serves as the Chairman of Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Sciences across the Fortis Group of Hospitals, primarily based at Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), Gurugram, and Fortis Hospital, Noida, Delhi NCR, India.

His academic background includes an MBBS from B.J. Medical College, Pune, followed by an MS in General Surgery and a DNB from the National Board of Examinations. He further solidified his expertise as the only Indian selected for the prestigious Roche Preceptorship Training Program at the University of Alabama, USA.

Dr. Vij is a pioneer in the field, credited with developing living donor surgery and standardizing safety protocols to achieve a 100% donor safety profile in India. His clinical milestones are numerous; he was the first surgeon from the Indian subcontinent to publish a series on Laparoscopic Donor Hepatectomy and is the youngest surgeon in India to have completed over 800 independent liver transplants with the lowest biliary complication rate (less than 4%) globally. His expertise encompasses Adult and Pediatric Liver Transplants, complex hepatobiliary surgeries, and advanced robotic and laparoscopic procedures.

With a cumulative team experience of over 4,000 liver transplants and a 97% patient success rate, Dr. Vij has received numerous accolades, including a special award from the International Liver Transplant Society (ILTS) in Chicago and recognition from the Ministries of Health in Mongolia and Uzbekistan for his contributions to liver care and hepatitis eradication.
